Applying for the SDSI Accelerator program is a multi-step process.

DO NOT DISCLOSE ANY PROPRIETARY BUSINESS OR TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION. Our policy is to keep your information confidential; however, we cannot guarantee its security. We will not ask you to disclose any proprietary information about your technology or invention; however no one involved in the SDSI Accelerator either in the preparation phase or at the panel presentations will sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. The SDSI team and volunteers have agreed, in writing, to maintain the highest standards of integrity with regard to your business activities.

If you’re invited to apply - here’s what to expect:

We process applications twice a year generally in January and August. You can find the latest class schedules here.

When the application window opens, you’ll be sent an application form with additional questions about your business, along with the SDSI Accelerator Business Plan Outline. This deck highlights the areas of business you’ll cover with your mentor team, should you be accepted to the program.

To complete your application you’ll be asked to submit:

  • Application Form - with additional questions about your business

  • Business Plan Presentation - similar in form and content to the SDSI Business Plan Outline

  • Executive Summary - not to exceed two pages.

  • Video - short, informal video about you, your company, and why you’re applying.

You’ll have 3 weeks in the application window to complete and submit the above items. Any applications received outside of the application window, will be considered for the next calendared class.

After reviewing all applications the strongest candidates will be selected to present to our group of mentors at the Intake Panel. After seeing all presentations, the group will determine who is the best fit for the upcoming cohort and mentor teams will be formed.  It is at this panel that final acceptance to the program is determined.

Once you’re accepted, you’ll meet your mentor team and begin working together on a weekly basis. At your first mentor team meeting, you’ll discuss what you want to get out of the Accelerator program and devise a plan for the 20 weeks to come.

Participating in the SDSI Accelerator is a benefit of SDSI membership. While it is free to apply for the Accelerator program, should you be accepted, you’ll need to join SDSI to participate. Memberships start at $2,000 and are annual. Once the 20 weeks of the Accelerator program are over, you have the remainder of the year (one year from the day you joined) to access SDSI membership benefits.
