Top Gun: Maverick (August Newsletter)

Well, San Diego is back in the news again with Top Gun 2.0…great reminder about our community ties to the Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Marine ecosystem and members and how important they are to San Diego. There is other TOP news as well, starting with the new Callaway Golf brand repositioning around Top Golf. And in a similar vein, Surf Park Summit is coming very soon. What is notable about both is the amazing potential they represent is bringing far more participants to 2 of our core membership constituencies. Golf has long had formidable barriers to entry for “newbies:” 15 minutes at a Top Golf facility is enough to “stoke” out any new golfer, and of course, growing the new golf consumer pool very significantly. Speaking of pools, Surf Park Summit is all about (I mean all about) the artificial wave pool phenom circling the world. Every aspect of the new world of surf parks, technology, marketing, financing, are represented at the Summit. The outcome is already apparent: pools currently in operation are over whelmed with business. There are several pools coming close to us. No doubt they will also dramatically increase participation and sales in surfing. We love that! Wanna go to the Summit? Better RSVP now. - Bob

The LDF was featured on Good Morning America for an employment program that hires individuals suffering from homelessness to be food rescue route drivers. So far the effort has rescued more than 500,000 lbs. of food and all graduates have secured full-time employment and are still housed. Watch the segment here. The 14th annual Swing & Soiree will be September 26th at the Santaluz Club. More information can be found here. The LDF is doing Good every day.
